While ‘Haus Shahbaz’ has been in existence since late 2006, my love affair with dogs started at a very early age when I was only 10 years old. I’ve been keeping dogs since 1970 and have been breeding them since 1989.

I bought my first Rottweiler in the year 2004. Since then, my love for this magnificient breed has grown to the point where I’ve come to the conclusion that “If it’s not a Rottweiler, It’s just a dog!”

I feel that the Rottweiler is the most misunderstood of all the breeds. Some unscruplous owners and breeders have tarnished the image of this great breed to the point where people are afarid of Rottweilers, where the fact of the matter is that one cannot hope to find a more caring and loving friend. It’s a highly intelligent companion, whose devotion and loyalty towards its family is un paralleled. It’s most importantly a ‘people dog’ and wants to be around its family always and WILL follow you everywhere!

Although we have very good bloodlines available in Pakistan but I feel we still need to organize ourselves a great deal and bring our breeding programs up to the level where local-bred Rottweilers can compete with the top German and European bred ones! My ultimate goal would be for a Rottweiler bred at my kennel to be shown internationally, winning accolades not only for the owner and my kennel but for Pakistan and the local Rottweiler community also.

Striving towards this goal, I have very carefully chosen my foundation dogs from amongst the top lines available in Pakistan, bred by the pioneer of this breed locally – Mr. Subak Majeed of the Subak Rottweiler Kennel. My brood bitch Bessie vom SRK (a ‘V’ rated female) has produced some wonderful litters in the past and I also have high hopes for the recent additions to our kennel.

I would like to advise all my fellow enthusiasts and those who’re new to the breed to be very careful when choosing the kennels they buy their puppies from. Research the kennels, ask the breeders about their breeding programs and then choose the ones who breed for conformation, temperament and workability.

Regards,

Shahbaz Lodhi
